25 May 2018

MINSK – The German company Duisburger Hafen became a shareholder of the Industrial Park Development Company (management company of the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone), Belarus' Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said in an interview to Xinhua News Agency of China, BelTA has learned.
Duisburger Hafen operates the world's largest inland port in Duisburg.
A robust interest in the industrial park on the part of major foreign investors is the guarantee of its further effective development, the Belarusian head of government said.
The Industrial Park Development Company has obtained the international certificate of Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). The park has become the first company in Belarus to pass the assessment and examination of the European Commission and to receive a document certifying its status as eco-city. This is another important competitive advantage of the Great Stone.
Today the main deterrent for investors considering deploying their operations in the Great Stone is the issue of sales markets. Therefore, export orientation of the park is growing in importance at this stage of its development. Andrei Kobyakov also suggested developing new mechanisms for attracting investment and advanced technologies that will lure in anchor investors and clusters, creating sub-parks.
“For us the park means new economy, new points of growth and development, new jobs. I am sure that in a short time the Great Stone's contribution to the gross domestic product and the export potential of Belarus will be even more tangible and visible,” the prime minister noted.
