Belarus outlines priority areas for cooperation with China in culture

MINSK (BelTA) - The Belarusian part of the commission for cultural cooperation of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee outlined the priority areas of bilateral cooperation in culture between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China at a meeting in Minsk on 24 March, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Culture Ministry.

According to the ministry, the meeting participants outlined the commission's specific tasks, approved its regulations and the plan of joint activities in the field of culture between the two countries in 2015.

The tasks of the commission include the expansion, consolidation and intensification of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China in the field of culture. A joint meeting of the commission with the participation of the Chinese partners will be held in October this year during the Days of Culture of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus.

An agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the People's Republic of China to set up the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation was signed in Beijing in September 2014. Belarusian Culture Minister Boris Svetlov was appointed chairman of the Belarusian part of the commission on cultural cooperation of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation.

On behalf of Belarus the commission includes Chairman of Belarusian TV and Radio Company Gennady Davydko, First Deputy General Director of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater Vladimir Rylatko, Deputy Information Minister Vladimir Matusevich, Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Mikhail Portnoy, Director of the Department for Archives and Records at the Justice Ministry Vladimir Adamushko, General Director of the National Art Museum, President of the Confederation of Arts Unions of Belarus Vladimir Prokoptsov, Chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus Nikolai Cherginets, member of the permanent commission for education, science, culture and social development Committee of the National Assembly, Director of the Culture Center in Molodechno Svetlana Soroko, and the head of international relations department at the Culture Ministry of Viktoria Ratobylskaya.
