Lukashenko relies on China's support with export diversification

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko relies on China's support with export diversification. Alexander Lukashenko made this statement during the meeting with journalists on 29 January, BelTA has learned.

“We are maintaining very friendly and cordial relations with China. China has never betrayed us. You have always supported Belarus whenever you promised - on the international arena, at international organizations - on various matters, every time we asked you to. You have never failed to lend a hand. We appreciate it immensely and we repaid in kind. Maybe, it is hard to say more. I hope our relations will stay the same in the future,” the Belarusian President noted.

Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus would like to ask the Chinese government for some favors. “We will convey these requests to them in the near future. Generally speaking, we would like China to help us diversify our exports. We would like to sell more to China compared to what China buys from Western and other states. This means hundreds of billion dollars. However, if we could sell some five billion worth of goods to China, our biggest dream would come true. We are in talks with China about it,” the head of state said.

He emphasized that export diversification is very important for Belarus; therefore, the Foreign Minister and the government were tasked to ask China to give preference to Belarusian products provided the quality and the price are the same. “We would like to discuss this matter with our Chinese friends. We have no other issues,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
