MINSK (BelTA) – It is important for China to expand contacts with Belarusian book publishers, Deputy Director (copyright) of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China Yan Xiaohong has said at the Belarus-China forum of publishers and writers, BelTA has learned.
Yan Xiaohong thanked Belarus for the opportunity to present a broad range of Chinese editions at the 22nd Minsk International Book Fair. Book publishing is a very vibrant industry in China. In fact, about 440,000 editions with the total number of copies exceeding 8 billion are published in China every year. “However, we still believe that the book publishing industry is not developing as fast as it could. Thus, we would like the industry to gain momentum,” Yan Xiaohong noted.
He believes that the establishment of the Silk Road economic belt will help boost China's contacts with Belarus and other countries. This project that was initiated by President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping has a great potential. “It is important to promote cultural exchange, including with Belarus, within the framework of the Silk Road project,” Yan Xiaohong noted.
He added that China and Belarus had developed solid friendly ties and cultural contacts. At present Belarusian books in the Chinese language are available in China. At the same time, Chinese editions translated into the Russian language can be found in Belarus.
