Ananich: Cooperation in information format is cooperation of potentials

MINSK (BelTA) – Cooperation in the information format is cooperation of the future, Information Minister of Belarus Lilia Ananich said on 11 February as she signed a memorandum of cooperation between the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China and the Information Ministry of Belarus. The memorandum of cooperation deals with translation and publication of Chinese classical literature in 2015-2020, BelTA has learned.
Lilia Ananich noted that the two countries are promoting cooperation across various walks of life. The cooperation in the information sector also has a solid foundation. A testimony to that is the participation of the People's Republic of China in the 22nd Minsk International Book Fair where China is the guest of honor this year.
The memorandum of cooperation signed on 11 February is a landmark document. It will facilitate contacts between Belarusian and Chinese book publishers and the exchange of classical works between libraries of the two countries. Projects stipulated by the memorandum will be implemented by the Union of Writers of Belarus and the Zvyazda publishing house.
According to Chairman of the Union of Writers of Belarus Nikolai Cherginets who has been to China many times, there is huge mutual interest on the part of Belarusian and Chinese writers and the peoples of the two states. He is convinced that the memorandum will allow advancing the bilateral cooperation to a brand new level.
Belarusian book publishers and writers were invited to take part in the Beijing International Book Fair that is traditionally held in autumn. The invitation was conveyed by Deputy Director (copyright) of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China Yan Xiaohong. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to present Chinese book novelties at the Minsk fair and noted that China took its guest of honor status very seriously. The Chinese exposition will introduce visitors to over 5,000 books. The Chinese delegation has plans to conduct many meetings and talks with Belarusian writers and interesting events for the visitors of the forum.
