Chinese company to build hall of residence in Minsk

MINSK (BelTA) - The contract to implement a technical and economic assistance project to build a hall of residence with the use of grant aid from China was signed by the Education Ministry of Belarus. The hall of residence will be built for students of the Belarusian National Technical University BelTA learned from Deputy Education Minister Sergei Rudy.
According to him, the construction of the building will be financed by the People's Republic of China. The project will be implemented by the 25th company of the China Railway Construction Corporation. China has allocated more than $40 million for the project. Sergei Rudy noted that the contract provides for the construction of the hall of residence for 1,032 people. The ground floor will accommodate catering facilities, outpatient clinics, administrative offices, premises for cultural events, sports and recreational facilities.
"The building will harmoniously fit into the architectural landscape of the student village. It is expected that the hall of residence will accommodate students from China and Belarus,” he said.
The construction is to be complete by 1 January 2018.
In Minsk the student village is home to more than 7,000 students from all the universities of the capital city. Apart from halls of residence the village includes consumer services facilities, eateries and cafes, a branch of the 33rd outpatient clinic, health and fitness centers, and other facilities.
