Nearly 2,000 Chinese receive education in Belarus every year

MINSK (BelTA) – About 2,000 Chinese citizens receive education at Belarusian universities on an annual basis, Chairman of the permanent commission on international affairs and national security Vladimir Senko said at the 10th session of the Council of the Republic on 9 December, BelTA informs.
“The universities of Belarus and China have more than 120 agreements. About 2,000 Chinese students receive education in Belarus on an annual basis, and over 600 Belarusians received training in China in the previous academic year,” said Vladimir Senko.
In turn, First Deputy Education Minister Vadim Bogush noted that Belarusians are first of all interested in translation majors and language practice. Chinese choose philological majors in Belarus. They are also interested in the international policy studies, international journalism, jurisprudence and economic majors.
On 9 December the Council of the Republic approved the bill on ratifying the agreement between the Government of Belarus and the Government of China on cooperation in education. The agreement will help the countries strengthen cooperation in the area.
