China president's forthcoming visit to Belarus hailed as major foreign policy event

MINSK (BelTA) – The visit of China President Xi Jinping to Belarus will be a most important foreign policy event. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement as he met with Chinese Deputy Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan on 17 April, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Lukashenko remarked that Belarus is completely prepared for the visit of the China president to Belarus. In his words, Xi Jinping's visit to Belarus will be a most important foreign policy event. “It will demonstrate our consistency in implementing principles of comprehensive strategic partnership for the benefit of the two nations before the entire world,” stressed the Belarusian head of state.
Alexander Lukashenko said he believes it is necessary to determine concrete avenues of cooperation and contact points during the visit of the Chinese Deputy Commerce Minister to Belarus. According to the Belarusian leader, it should help make the visit of the China president to Belarus more effective and filled with concrete content.
Zhong Shan is the head of the trade and economic delegation sent by the Chinese government to prepare the trade and economic aspects of the China president's visit to Belarus.
During the meeting the Chinese Deputy Commerce Minister conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes on behalf of the China president to Alexander Lukashenko.
