Wang Yi suggests using Belarus' geographical advantages for joint projects

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus has unique geographical advantages and they need to be used to duly implement major joint projects, Chinese Minister for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi told media in Minsk on 8 April, BelTA has learned.

"Belarus should be made an important partner in the Silk Road project. Belarus' unique geographical advantages should be used to duly implement major joint projects in the future, in particular, the Chinese -Belarusian Industrial Park,” Mr Wang Yi said.

According to him, there is a need to make use of the unique opportunities of the treaty of friendship and cooperation which is planned to be signed during China's President Xi Jinping's visit to Belarus. China's Minister of Foreign affairs noted that the visit will be a historic event and will allow raising the relations between the two countries in all areas to a new level. "We intend to develop the international relations of a new type," said Mr Wang Yi.

The Chinese minister also noted the benefits of the development of comprehensive strategic partnership between Belarus and China. According to him, the two sides have one goal, which is to turn the high level of political relations into more tangible and real results. “Vladimir Makei and I had a substantive discussion on concrete measures for the further advancement of the Chinese-Belarusian comprehensive strategic partnership,” Mr Wang Yi noted.
