Wang Yi hopes Xi Jinping's visit to Belarus will be a success

MINSK (BelTA) – I hope that the forthcoming visit of President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to Belarus will be successful, Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi said as he met with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei in Minsk on 8 April, BelTA has learned.

“We believe this visit will be successful and will give an additional impetus to the development of the bilateral strategic partnership. We can reach agreements on a broad range of issues,” the Chinese minister said.

“We already see Belarus' increased attention to the visit,” Mr Wang Yi said. In his words, not long ago Belarus and China agreed to raise their relations to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership. According to the Chinese minister, the two countries have been steadily developing cooperation.

“We will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Victory in World War Two together,” said Mr Wang Yi. According to him, it is essential to preserve the historical memory in the name of a common future.

According to Mr Wang Yi, China appreciates that Belarus views the relations with China among its priorities.
