Nanjing seeks closer ties with Mogilev

MOGILEV (BelTA) – The Chinese city of Nanjing is interested in expanding cooperation with Mogilev, head of the Chinese delegation, Deputy Director of the Nanjing Investment Promotion Board Yan Zhuang said at the meeting with First Deputy Mayor of Mogilev Alexander Potemkin on 27 November, BelTA has learned.

In his words, it is the first time the Nanjing delegation is on a visit to Mogilev in line with the agreements that were reached at the recent meeting of the mayors of the two cities in China. “Our number one task is to learn more about opportunities offered by Mogilev by specific examples, to determine areas of focus while promoting cooperation of the partner cities. Today we are interested in implementing joint projects and investing in the construction industry, manufacturing, and social infrastructure; however, we need to be familiar with cooperation terms, opportunities and development prospects of the oblast capital,” Yan Zhuang said.

Alexander Potemkin informed the Chinese delegation about economic and investment potential of the city and its development plans. The delegates were told about construction sites and projects to build an indoor football arena, a water park, a hotel and entertainment complex and a business center.

“We are ready to discuss any cooperation projects in economy and social field with the city of Nanjing. We are primarily interested in investment projects to set up joint manufacturing companies and in infrastructure projects; however, we are ready to go beyond this and consider projects in culture and tourism, too” he said.

The Chinese delegation was informed about the most promising investment projects of the oblast capital. On 28 November the delegates will tour local manufacturing companies, including those located in the FEZ Mogilev, and will see the most remarkable tourist attractions of Mogilev.
