Belarus-China Industrial Park to encourage inward investment in Belarus

13 March 2012

MINSK (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Chinese Industrial Park will secure an inflow of foreign investment in Belarus, Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Guryanov told media on 13 March.

According to the official, the project should not be viewed as solely of Belarus and China. The project aims to attract companies from different countries for starting their export-oriented businesses in the country.

Alexander Guryanov stressed that China is one of the most important trading and investment partners for Belarus. “We have always stressed that for China Belarus could become a platform to expand into the Customs Union and also into the markets of European countries,” he said.

In this connection, the project to set up a joint industrial park with China is seen as a solution to two challenges. First of all, Belarus and China can significantly increase bilateral trade. Secondly, the park can ensure an inflow of foreign investment for the development of new export-oriented enterprises in Belarus, which will be able to work on the market of the Customs Union. Moreover, the project meets the interests of Chinese companies in the European region, stressed Alexander Guryanov said.
