Belarus Embassy in China hosts meeting with BSU representatives

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in science and education was the center of attention at a meeting in Beijing attended by the representatives of Belarusian State University (BSU), BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Belarus in China.

Attending the meeting was BSU Provost for Research Oleg Ivashkevich, Head of the BSU Department for Oriental Languages and Country Studies Alexander Gordei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Viktor Burya, the workers of the embassy.

The parties talked about sinology development in the Republic of Belarus as part of the activity of the National Chinese Studies Center (Confucius Institute) at the Belarusian State University. Alexander Gordei is Director of the institute.

The main objective of the Confucius Institute is the development of the Belarusian sinology using the latest IT achievements, formation of a highly professional environment uniting Chinologists from every branch of learning. The institute also trains personnel for all-round support of Belarus’ activity in Eastern and South-East Asia, strengthening friendly relations with the People’s Republic of China, extending knowledge of the Chinese culture, popularizing the Chinese language.
