Belarus, China mulling over new projects

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus and China are looking into a possible implementation of nearly 20 new projects worth more than $5 billion, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy to Belarus Zheng Shi said in a meeting held in the House of Friendship to mark the 19th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Belarus and China.

According to the diplomat, the plans include the construction of a five-star hotel Peking, an upgrading of the runway at the Minsk national airport and housing construction with the participation of Chinese specialists.

Belarus and China are currently implementing an over $1-billion worth of joint projects in the industry and energy.

The Chinese official took note of the popularity of Belarusian products in China, in particular, of BelAZ and MAZ vehicles, Belarusian tractors, linen, alcoholic beverages and china. “The aforesaid proves that the mutually beneficial Belarus-China cooperation meet the interests of the two nations. Although we have different culture, mentality and the economic system, our pragmatic cooperation will produce a greater effect through an open dialogue and experience sharing,” the diplomat believes.

He noted that friendly relations between the two countries are handed over from one generation to another. Thousands of Belarusian students receive education in China. There are a lot of Chinese students in Belarus, too. The two countries hold regular exhibitions, cultural days and festivals.

The Embassy of China in Belarus is ready to make further contribution to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
