The Belarusian Railways signed a contract with the Electrical Equipment Export and Import Corporation and Datong Electric Locomotive Plant for the delivery of 12 mainline freight locomotives in 2012, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Railways press service.

The Belarusian bank Belarusbank is expanding cooperation with Chinese banks, representatives of Belarusbank told BelTA.

In January-August this year Belarus increased export to China more than 2.6 times over the same period last year to $318.2 million, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee.

The Industry Ministry of Belarus and Chinese automakers are considering a possibility to set up an assembly production of cars in Belarus, head of the chief department for innovations and investments of the Industry Ministry of Belarus Dmitry Korchik told reporters on 27 October, BelTA has learnt.

The Belarusian electronics manufacturer Horizont and the Chinese company Midea intend to sign a promising cooperation agreement, said First Vice Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko during festivities timed to Horizont’s 60th anniversary on 22 October.

Chinese companies are ready to build up a high-speed tramline and a waste treatment plant in Minsk Oblast. These including some other investment projects were discussed in a meeting with the representatives of the China National Technical Import&Export Corporation (CNTIC) in the Minsk oblast executive committee on 22 October.

A Chinese-Belarusian industrial park can be set up in Minsk Oblast. The issue was discussed with the representatives of the China CAMC Engineering Company in the Minsk oblast executive committee on 21 October.

The People's Bank of China said it would raise its key interest rate (lending rate denominated in CNY (yuan) for 1 year) by 0.25 percentage points to 5.56 percent. Moreover, the same rise will be seen in annual deposit rates denominated in CNY – to 2.5 percent, Reuters told referring to the People's Bank of China. The decision to up the rates is due to an attempt to curb inflation and prevent undesirable effects of growing property prices.

The financing of new Belarus-China projects is going to start in December. The issue was discussed on October 14 within the frameworks of the report presented by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Sidorsky to the Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, the Head of State press service told.

China’s loan terms are most economically advantageous for Belarus, Deputy Economy Minister of Belarus Vladimir Adashkevich said at the international scientific conference, Problems of Forecasting and State Regulation of Social and Economic Development.
