Belarus keen on sci-tech, education cooperation with Chinese Hubei

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – The State Committee for Science and Technology (SCST) of Belarus is interested in sci-tech and education cooperation with the Chinese province of Hubei, SCST Chairman Igor Voitov said as he met with a delegation of the Hubei Province on 28 June.

“We see a great potential in developing technologies and manufactures in your country. We are also interested in cooperation with the Hubei Province,” Igor Voitov said. In his words, the Committee “is particularly keen on electronics, new materials and lasers”.

Belarus is ready to develop cooperation in the motor industry, high-accuracy metallurgy, machine-tool manufacture, military-technical, agrarian, education and other areas, the SCST Chairman stressed. The Belarusian side also views as promising the joint processing of various natural resources (coal, slate), development of iron deposits.

“Apart from the cooperation in science and technology, we have 25 projects prepared on new manufactures in Belarus and China, which we will consider. We have projects in food, light, petrochemistry industries,” Igor Voitov said.

“We will support the setting up of joint manufactures, joint research, creating joint laboratories, joint forums and exchange of students,” Igor Voitov said. According to him, there is a need to conclude an agreement on bilateral cooperation.

The Hubei Province is located in central China. The province’s main industries are auto, electromechanics, metallurgy, chemical and light industries, production of contraction materials and construction industry. In terms of the car output the province is ranked first in China. The research and development sector employs 1 million people. The province holds leading positions in China in fiber-optic communication, photoelectronics, transgenic technologies and transplantation.
