Scientific and technological projects of Belarus and Shandong to be discussed in Minsk, August 2

The fourth sitting of the working committee on scientific and technological cooperation between Belarus and Shandong Province (China) will be held in Minsk on August 2nd, BelTA learnt from the press-service of the State Committee for Science and Technology of Belarus.
“The agenda will include summarizing results of the implementation of reached agreements, exchange of information on a state and prospects of scientific and technological field development, new trends and changes in the field of scientific and technological and innovation policy,” the press-service told. A meeting of representatives of the Shandong Province delegation with the administration of the National Academy of Sciences will take place in the course of the visit.
The Vice Governor of Shandong Province Li Zhaoqian, the director of the Department on Science and Technology Zhai Luning, the city mayor Le Wu Ma Ping Chiang and other officials are expected to arrive in Minsk to partake in the committee work.
Shandong is one of the first Chinese provinces Belarus has begun to cooperate with in the field of science and technology at the regional level. The Province total area is 156,700 square kilometers, population – 90.82 million. The science and technological field employs 230 thousand of experts. 95 laboratories and 72 engineering and technical centres operate there. The Province has 15 high technology areas (with 2810 companies included) and 33 business incubators. Annual R&D expenditures of the Province amount to 50 mln. USD. The priority trends of the Province science and technology development are information technology, biotechnologies and advanced materials.
