Plans for high-speed rail between Minsk and Moscow unveiled

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus, Russia and China plan to build a high-speed railway between Minsk and Moscow, Head of Belarusian Railways Anatoly Sivak told a press conference on 29 July.
The sides have already begun preparations for the project. The relevant working groups have been created. A delegation of Chinese specialists, including the head of China’s Railway Transport Ministry, is expected to arrive in Minsk in late August to discuss future cooperation in the project.
Anatoly Sivak explained that instead of using the existing railways the project will build a new line to enable speeds up to 300km/h.
According to the official, the project can be economically expedient for the participating countries. Specialists continue examining some technical parameters. The development of the feasibility studies will come next.
