Belarus’ merchandise export to China over 160% up in January-October

MINSK (BelTA) – In January-October 2010 Belarus’ merchandise export to China increased by over 160% in comparison with the same period of last year to $381.7 million, representatives of the National Statistics Committee told BelTA.

Belarus’ export to the USA went up by 78.3%, to Ukraine 55.3% up, Kazakhstan 49.3% up, Russia 48.6% up, Venezuela 38.3% up, Lithuania 28.4% up, Brazil 38.3% up, Italy 30.5% up, to Poland 13.6% up.

Meanwhile, Belarus’ export to Germany went down by 49%, to Latvia 43.4% down, the Netherlands 29.1% down, the UK 17.4% down.

In January-October 2010 Belarus’ merchandise import from Kazakhstan went up by 380%, from China 49.1% up, from India 38.4% up, from Ukraine 39.2% up, from Brazil 31.1% up, from Poland 31.2% up, from the UK 31.5% up, from the Netherlands 28.1% up, from Lithuania 21.9% up, from Russia 5.1% up. Meanwhile, Belarus’ import from Latvia went down by 18.4%, from the USA 6.5% down.

Belarus traded with 185 countries, exporting commodities to 151 countries and importing commodities from 166 countries. In January-October 2010 Belarus’ main trade partners were Russia (47.1% of the total trade turnover), the Netherlands (5%), Germany (4.8%), China (3.6%), Poland (3.4%), Venezuela (2.4%), Latvia (1.7%), the UK and Italy (1.6% each).

In January-September 2010 Belarus’ foreign merchandise trade amounted to $46.7 billion, with export at $19.9 billion and import at $26.8 billion. In cost terms Belarus’ export went up by 17% ($2.9 billion) in actual prices, Belarus’ import went up by 18.2% ($4.1 billion).
