Belarus triples export to China in H1

MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – In January-June Belarus’ export of goods and services to China increased 2.8 times to reach $267 million, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics committee.

The export of goods and services to Brazil increased by 78%, to the United States by 69%, to Kazakhstan by 74%, to Ukraine by 55.8%, to Lithuania by 43.5%, to Russia by 48.9%, to Italy – 30%, Venezuela by 23.6%, to Poland by 13.3%. In January-June Belarus reduced export to Latvia by 43.5%, Germany (25%), the Netherlands (25.6%).

In January-June 2010, Belarus’ imports from Kazakhstan grew twice compared to the same period a year before, the import from Brazil rose by 71%, from India by 55.6%, from China by 40.4%, from Ukraine by 38.3%, from Lithuania by 15%. The import from Latvia fell by 33.9%, from Italy by 6.4%, from the US by 4.2%.

According to the National Statistics Committee, in January-June this year, Belarus carried out export/import operations with 176 countries. Belarus exported to 142 markets and imported products made in 154 countries. In January-June 2010, Belarus’ main trading partners were Russia (48.1% of the total trade), Ukraine (7%), the Netherlands (5.3%), Germany (4.7%), China (3.6%), Poland (3.4%), the United Kingdom, Italy (1.6%), Latvia (1.6%), and Brazil (1.5%).

In January-June, Belarus foreign trade was up 19.6% from the same period a year earlier (the 2010 growth forecast is 24-25%) to exceed $29.153 billion. Export surged by 25.5% to $13.381 billion, import - by 15.1% to $15.772 billion. In H1, Belarus had a foreign trade deficit of $2.390 billion.
