Belarusian-Chinese joint venture to manufacture equipment for finishing medical products

25 February 2009

MINSK, February 25 (BelTA) - The technological cluster Metolit of the Belarusian National Technical University and the research and production centre of the Harbin Polytechnic University (China) plan to set up an enterprise for manufacturing equipment for finishing medical products, Metolit Director General Yuri Alekseyev told BelTA.

A Belarusian technology of electrolytic-plasma processing of surfaces will be used to manufacture equipment for finishing medical products. The novelty can be used for polishing and high-temperature cleansing and disinfection of medical products as well as treatment of components made of stainless and carbon steel, aluminium and copper. Boasting high performance, the technology combines cleansing, oxidizing, and polishing of metal materials in one package. “Special salts are used for metal treatment, this is why our solution is ecologically friendly,” said Yuri Alekseyev.

Over the last few years Metolit scientists have designed a large number of new technologies for hardening parts and instruments, applying special coatings, have created new composite materials for various purposes. The latest innovations include a technology and equipment for plasma flame spraying of powder materials. It is used for rapidly wearing parts of automobiles and tractors, oil equipment, boring and gas processing equipment. The technology increases the durability of parts by 200-400% in comparison with its competitors. The innovation is in high demand in Belarus and abroad.

Technology park Metolit develops, assimilates and batch produces new technologies, materials and equipment. Metolit also helps small innovation companies promote their products onto the domestic market and foreign ones.
