Back Belarusian Cement Works to Complete Preparations for Construction of New Line under Contract with Chinese “CITIC”14 November 2008The “Belarusian Cement Works”, Republican Unitary Production Enterprise, completes its preparatory works to construct a new line on cement production by dry method with a capacity of 1.8 mln. tons per year which will be created under the contract with the Chinese “ CITIC,” BelTA learnt from Vladimir Kiselev, the enterprise’s General Director. “We are now finishing preparatory period; the ground for the construction of the new line is almost ready,” the enterprise’s General Director said. A number of construction works were carried out on the territory of the ground, including removal of unnecessary networks from the area and building of a fence. The preparation works were conducted at the enterprise’s expense. As for the $175 mln. loan which shall be provided to the plant under the terms of signed intergovernmental arrangement by the export-import bank of China (Exim Bank), the application of these funds hasn’t been started yet. As the General Director of the enterprise explained, the “CITIC” Group unilaterally introduced alternations in the operation schedule of the line construction on November of the current year. “By this reason the construction drags on,” Vladimir Kisilev noted. The “Belarusian Cement Works” produced 869 thous. tons of cement in January-October of the current year which exceeds the similar period of 2007 by 13.3%. On domestic market there was sold 830.3 thous. tons of this construction material. In the current year the enterprise plans to produce 1.050 mln. tons of cement which will exceed the level of 2007 by 12.3%. In summer of the current year the “Belarusian Cement Works” put on rated capacity a clinker burning stove which had been commissioned on December 2007. The new stove allows increasing of cement production by 200 thous. tons of cement per year. Nowadays, the enterprise has two operating stoves to burn clinker with both of them produce cement using the “dry” method. We remind that the Belarusian government and Exim Bank signed on October 29, 2008 the loan agreements on rendering buyer and preferential credit for the construction of cement making lines using dry method for RUPE “KrichevCementnoShifer” and RUPE “ Belarusian Cement Works” to the amount of $390 mln. With a view to saturation of the domestic market and the expansion of export potential of cement making industry in Belarus it is planned to increase cement production to 10 mln. tons per year by 2010. In order to achieve this goal it is planned to commission three new processing lines at RUPE “ KrichevCementnoShifer”, OJSC “Krasnoselskstroymaterialy” and the “ Belarusian Cement Works” (Kostukovichi, the Mogilev region) with a capacity of 1.8 mln. tons of cement per year for each one. The total cost of the construction is estimated at $1.134 bn. Source: BelTA |
