Catic estimates bleached pulp project in Svetlogorsk at 240 mln euros

Catic corporation has
justified the investment requirement of the project to build a
bleached pulp production at Svetlogorsk Cellulose and Cardboard
Plant (CCP) at 240 million euros
According to Chinese experts, the sum will be enough to finance the construction and equip the plant with Chinese machinery. It will take about 3.5 years and will break even within six years.
The feasibility study, prepared by Catic, has been submitted to the state-owned Belgosexpertiza review board of the Architecture and Construction Ministry. The project financing review will determine the starting date for construction operations.
In March 2007, Bellesbumprom and CATIC signed a memorandum of intention to cooperate in the pulp-and-paper industry.
Catic is considered a potential investor in Belarus’ own production of bleached pulp.
