09 January 2008

The official opening of Belarus Trade and Industry Chamber (BelTPP) representative office in Beijing will take place on the 22nd of January – reported BelTPP’s foreign relations department head Gennady Chemerko to BELTA observer.

To his mind, the major objectives of the representative office of BelTPP in Beijing will be the assistance in diversification of Belarus export to China and increase of Chinese investments to Belarus. It is believed that the opening of representative office will also contribute to regulation of import operations from the Peoples Republic of China to Belarus.

The office of BelTPP has been functioning in China since September 2007. The official opening had met some delay due to organization reasons, remarked Gennady Chemerko. Over the period of its business activities the representative office has taken part in the whole range of projects aimed at the development of business cooperation between Belarus and China.  To them belong the visit of trade and economic delegates of Minsk to Changchun city, official days of Heilongjiang province in Minsk, the visit of the delegation of Mogilev regional executive committee to the chinese provinces of Jiangsu and Hunan.

Nowadays BelTPP’s office in Beijing plans to take more active part in the regional cooperation between Belarus and China. The director of the office Ihor Babak believes that such plans will be quite useful for the development of bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries and also create conditions for self-sufficient operation of the representative office.

The official office of BelTPP in Beijing is the third office of this business structure abroad. The first office was opened in Germany in 2004 while the second one was set up in July 2007 in St-Petersburg .

BelTPP’s delegates headed by its chairman Vasily Romanov are flying to Beijing on the 20th of January.
