Chinese Eximbank makes a transfer of more than $10 mln. to Belarus for the purchase of equipment for Minsk Thermal Electric Station-2

By now the Export and Import bank of China has already wired the amount of more than $10 mln. for reconstruction project of Minsk TES-2 – told deputy energy minister of Belarus Mikhail Mikhadiyk to a Belta reporter.
The credit funds for this project are allotted in parts. "China Eximbank transferred more than $10 mln. for equipment purchase", - reported the deputy minister. According to him, Chinese National Corporation of foreign economic cooperation has ordered the equipment for technical re-equipment of Minsk TES-2, which is being manufactured at the moment. Apart from that, Belarus experts along with their Chinese colleagues are now busy with appropriate project engineering works. The preparation works for building of the new sections are also in progress at the moment.
The ministry of energy informed that a group of home specialists headed by the top management officials of RYP "Minskenergo” are flying to China on the 10th of January". Within the framework of this visit it is scheduled to discuss the realization of the joint project of reconstruction of Minsk TES-2. Particular discussion is going to be held on technical issues of the project’s execution and its projecting details.
On the 16th of July 2007 in Minsk the governmental preferential loan agreement had been signed, in conformity with which a loan of approximately $42 mln. would be granted by the Export and Import bank of China for financing of investment project named "Reconstruction of Minsk TES-2". The station’s projecting contractor and the supplier of two steam and gas energy blocks with the capacity of 32,5 Мwt each is Chinese national corporation of foreign economic cooperation .
Minsk TES-2, which provides heating to almost the whole central part of the capital, entered into force in 1934 and requires modernization . As stipulated by the reconstruction project the outdated equipment will be replaced by the modern steam and gas mounts. As a result, practically new station will emerge, both highly effective and efficient .
