Chinese cars may account for 10% of Belarusian new car imports in 2010

The share of Chinese cars on the Belarusian market of new foreign-made cars may reach 10% by yearend 2010. Within 2.5 years the sales are expected to amount to 5 thousand cars a year, chairman of the council for entrepreneurship of the Belarusian Confederation of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (BCIE) Sergei Varivoda said on August 12.

Within 2.5 years the sales are expected to amount to 5 thousand cars a year, chairman of the council for entrepreneurship of the Belarusian Confederation of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (BCIE) Sergei Varivoda said on August 12.

According to him, the sales of new Chinese cars are outstripping the sales of other new foreign-made cars represented on the Belarusian market. In 2007, 467 Chinese cars were registered, in H1 2008 up 400 and their number is expected to reach one thousand by late 2008.

He added that within 1-1,5 years, 3-5 new makes of Chinese cars will enter the Belarusian market. At present, the Belarusian market can offer the following Chinese car brands: Great Wall, Chery, Jac, Hafei, Jeely, Faw, Land Mark.
