Chinese company Huawei will supply equipment for construction of Metro Ethernet network.

Chinese company Huawei has won tenders on procurement for modernization of a basic Beltelecom network and Metro Ethernet construction. It has been told by the first deputy minister of communication and information Ivan Rak in response to question of BelTA correspondent.

As he said, in the nearest years republic will be emphasized on development of data transmission networks. So, realization of the project on modernization of a basic Beltelecom network will begin in this year.

Tender is completed, contract is concluded and equipment delivery already begins. It is planned to realize this project in full in the course of next year. Project provides construction of networks with a transfer rate not less than 10 Gbit/sec in each regional center that will provide high-speed Internet access.

Ivan Rak has informed BelTA, that project IP-TV (TV on data transmission networks) will be realized on the basis of a basic network. Tender is completed; procurement contract is also concluded. Besides it, realization of project Metro Ethernet (broadband access to data transmission networks by means of technology ADSL) will start soon.

Chinese company Huawei has won two tenders on procurement for expansion of a basic network of the national telecommunication operator and Metro Ethernet. "As for IP-TV project -- tender is already completed, and its results will be announced in the near future", - first deputy minister has added.

"Besides we expect a decision on conditions of allocation to cellular operators of frequencies for expansion of third generation (3G) communication networks , and also we plan to introduce wireless access to data transmission networks on WiMAX technology ", - he has told. Ivan Rak thinks, that 3G technology in Belarus will be demanded. Practice of other countries shows, that approximately 10 % from services volume, rendered by mobile operators, are third generation communication services.

First deputy minister also has noted that basic network will capture all regions and regional centers. "All 118 regional centers have fiber-optical communication lines and now FOCL are laying in countryside", - he has ascertained. At the initial stage IP-TV and Metro Ethernet network services will work only in Minsk and regional centers.
