Belarusian-Chinese scientific cooperation
31 January 2007
Opportunities for Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in the sphere of science and innovation technologies are immense as Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, noted at the opening of the meeting dedicated to the 15th anniversary of diplomatic links establishment and the Agreement signing between the governments of Belarus and China.
Quoting his words, unofficial openings of Chemical-Engineering Centre for Composite Materials in 2006 in Harbin (Heilongjiang province) as well as the establishment of international research laboratory on the base of Henan Academy of Sciences and Institute of the Organic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus serve as the cooperation achievements.
Mikhail Myasnikovich stated that recent visit of Zenon Lomat, Chairman of the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus, to china resulted in a number of important agreements signing. One of the most large-scale projects is the contract for Minsk Heat Power Station-2 reconstruction where Chinese investments and equipment will be employed. However, trade and commodity relations, whatever fruitful they are, have no prospects if not supported by science.
Heat and Mass Transfer Institute named after A.V.Lykov, Powder Metallurgy Institute, Potato Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences and some other organizations have established the tightest links in the sphere of science and technology within 15 years, as Mikhail Myasnikovich reported.
