About the participation of the Belarusian delegation in the session of chiefs of missions – participants of the Beijing Olympic Games 2008

From August 6 to 10 Beijing is going to welcome the session of leaders of the teams – participants of the Olympic Games 2008. The event is to be held in the Chinese capital. The Belarusian delegation is represented by A, Grigorov, Head of the Belarusian Olympic mission, Minister of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus; G. Alekseenko, First Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee; G. Katulin, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee.

According to G. Katulin, heads of the Olympic delegations traditionally gather in the capital of the forthcoming Olympic Games a year ahead of their opening ceremony. During such forums the organizers of the Olympics account to the guests on the country’s level of alert to welcome the competition, demonstrate completed sports facilities.

Two of the objects are to be tested during the on-coming Olympic chiefs-session in Beijing. China is going to hold the Junior Rowing-and-Canoeing World Championship and the Field Hockey International Tournament concurrent with the Olympic chiefs-session.

The guests are to adopt reports of the representatives of different subdivisions of the Organizing Committee, responsible for a wide range of the Olympic services, such as the Olympic village, transport, medical services, doping control. If the team leaders have any questions of comments they can discuss them at the special seminars.

On August, 8, even a year before the Opening of the Olympics-2008, the main Beijing square Tiananmen is going to welcome the great celebration dedicated to this event date. The heads of the Olympic delegations are also to take part in the event.
