Annual seminar for Belarus’ foreign institutions heads

July 24 marked the start of annual seminar for Belarus’ foreign institutions heads.
S.Martynov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, remarked that Belarus Embassies in foreign countries should do their utmost to direct, consult and advise industries and enterprises to intensify cooperation. “Unfortunately our manufacturers sometimes seem to be unable to carry out joint projects, find niches in foreign markets independently”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stated. Quoting his words, Embassies should strive to render assistance to them.
A.Tozik, the Ambassador of Belarus to China, reported that trade turnover between Belarus and China would amount to $2 bln by 2010.
He noted that the main task of Belarusian Embassy in China was economic links development, deepening and extension. He added that working in China ran smoothly what was caused by the coincidence of views of Belarus and China on international policy, social and economic model building.
The diplomat reported that August 2006 would see the start of new Minsk Tractor Plant assembly line in China. The PRC is actively purchasing BelAZ mine trucks.
According to A.Tozik Chinese market may welcome not only Belarusian machinery but consumer goods, food, industrial goods as well. The Ambassador reminded that the visit of Belarusian President to China in December 2005 resulted in agreement to attract $1bln investment to Belarus. “There are several projects aimed at the implementation of this program. What we need is to promote them actively among Belarusian manufacturers”, A.Tozik noted.
