There are several types of entry visas in Belarus: private, tourist, business etc. To get a visa for private purposes a foreigner has to present the invitation issued for a Belarusian resident by his citezenship and migration office. The original invitation should be handed over to the embassy/consulate or Consular office at the National airport in this case, any fax or photocopy is excluded. Multiple private visa is issued upon presentation of the original invitation to foreigners, visiting their close relatives. To get a Belarusian business visa foreigner has to present an original invitation of any Belarusian legal person, which is officially registered in the Republic of Belarus. The invitation is to be written on letterhead paper and should contain name, personal and passport details as well as purpose and duration of visit. The invitation is to be signed and bear official seal of the inviting organization.

Visas can be valid for one, two, three or multiple entries. They are to be used within the period indicated therein.

Foreigners visiting Belarus must register within a period of 3 working days with local passport and visa office and have registration put in their passport. If the tourist stays at the hotel, this will be arranged by the hotel/

If necessary, private or business visa can be extended up to 90 days when staying in Belarus.

Alternatively, you can receive your tourist visa at “Minsk-2” National Airport on your arrival at Minsk. A Russian visa is valid for Belarus for a period of 48 hours for transit travellers only. Belarusian transit visa is required when crossing Belarus to another country.

From February 1993 Belarusian Stock Exchange is functioning, it is the main instrument of currency exchange on Financial Market of the Republic of Belarus. Bids are carring out on four main types of currency: USD, Euro, Russian rouble and grivna. Daily the National Banc of the Republic of Belarus states official interest rate of Belarusian rouble to foreign currency in accordance with the results of work of the Stock Exchange in previous day.

Belarusian roubles can be exchanged at bank branches or exchange bureaus, which can be easily found in any city and in all hotels, major stores and supermarkets. Bank branches also accept and exchange travel cheques and credit cards. It is not recommended to exchange currency with individuals—firstly, it's the violation of Belarusian laws causing confiscation of available sums of money, and, secondly, you can be cheated. In the capital and major cities you can pay with major credit cards, and now payment by cheque is possible in many shops, restaurants and supermarkets. Cash can be withdrawn with credit cards in banking machines.
